imageIt’s summer holidays and we are having fun in the sun in Spain. It’s only been a week since school ended but we’ve long forgotten the early starts, school runs and routines. We are fully in wind down mode now.

At age 7 Littlelish is a big fan of free time, not a child who is easily bored she can fill her day with imaginative play, swinging on her swing outside, drawing eyes, writing songs and reading Jaqueline Wilson. She’s also a real love for learning and was perhaps the only child who during the recent SATs said she preferred doing the tests to normal school!

Last month we were reviewing Education Quizzes an online educational quiz website for children of all ages. Covering a huge variety of subjects including Maths, Computing, Spelling and Art, children can have fun on the computer or iPad testing their knowledge in fun tests written by teachers. Unlike many educational websites the tests seem pitched at very much the right level so they won’t be frustrated at them being too easy. They are also not too dry or boring which makes the experience fun which I’d say is the real benefit of the site. If you’ve a keen learner in the family like Littlelish, they won’t need any persuading to have a go. She absolutely loved testing herself, not only on her maths skills but on her knowledge of art materials and methods too!

With a long summer ahead I can imagine it being a great boredom buster on a wet and windy¬†day when you can’t get outside. Plus it’s truly educational so you can feel a little less guilty about them being behind a screen. Littlelish and I agreed it would be perfect prop to use during our imaginative play ‘school’ games.

For older children, Education Quizzes is an excellent tool to use for coaching or training children in taking tests and getting them ready for their all important exams. The tests follow the current curriculum and are sorted into key stage 1, 2, 11 plus, key stage 3 and GCSEs. Tutors can be expensive but at £9.95 a month for a personal subscription (which can be cancelled at anytime) this seems an affordable way to help your children succeed at school and revise for their exams.

Right now we are taking a break from all things school related but that doesn’t mean that the learning has to stop. We are having fun learning together every day about Spanish culture (Littlelish is fascinated about all the children staying up so late!) pet tortoises and ants as we watch how they carry away our crumbs!

Thank you Education Quizzes for letting us trial your fab service, once we are back in school mode and in the years to come we will definitely be revisiting Education Quizzes for support.
