Britmums seems like a lifetime ago, well it was a whole 2 weeks ago! And so much seems to have happened in these 2 weeks. Firstly I’ve started to work full-time for the first time in 4 years! I’ve also spent more time in London town than I have all year, met so many new people from all over the world and felt totally inspired! And inspiration is such a great, great thing – cheers to that! :)

Britmums live definitely kick started it – what an experience! Having never been to a blog conference before I had no idea what to expect. I set off on the Friday without giving the whole weekend too much thought, after my first week at work I hadn’t had any time to! During the train journey I was nervously excited about what was ahead of me. My new Curvissa dress gave me a much needed boost in confidence, it was the perfect combination of stylish, cute, glam but professional. I teamed it with some lush red heels from Nine West.

The weekend passed in an absolute whirlwind of bloggers, seminars, discussions, speakers and brands that by the end of it I was totally drained emotionally, mentally and physically. I took away so much from the weekend in both blogging inspiration  and life inspiration and I’d like to share with you my top ten inspirational moments.

1. Listening to Katie Piper talk about her life, the terrible ordeal she went through, how she came back from it and has now set up a charity working with burns victims. What an utterly, utterly inspirational woman. She left me reeling, thinking about life and putting things into some major perspective. Katie, thank you for sharing your story with us all.

2. Listening to Susan Greenfield talk about the effects cyber / digital / social media on us all, society and most importantly our children. I am a very interested in psychology so this talk had me gripped, I could have listened to her talk all day. Mind opening if a little frightening but I felt comforted to know that in our house books win over ipads anyday.

3. Hanging out with the very awesome Jen from lovechicliving. Talking blogs, babies, families, inspiration, style and brands. A wonderful lady who is very much on my wavelength. I loved hearing her talk in the style panel and getting her input on the discussions we attended together.

4. Listening to fellow bloggers read out their top posts in the bloggers keynote. I was inspired by their brave subject choice, witty writing styles and touching details.

5. Talking with inspirational brands like Panasonic, Parragon books, Butlins and Warner Brothers about their up and coming campaigns and how they work with bloggers. Exciting stuff!

6. Listening to Kirstie Allsop talk so genuinely and warmly about her family life. I admire any woman who can craft so beautifully, work so hard and raise children :) Definitely an inspiration to me.

7. Meeting women from all over the country that share a passion – blogging and realising how strong our united voice can be especially when blogging for causes we believe in.

8. Witnessing the strong bonds between bloggers who founded their friendships online but have gone on to meet up and become an important part of each others lives, providing support and advice to each other. I loved being part of the tribute to Kerry who tragically died last year. Even though I didn’t know her, to witness the love the room felt for her was wonderful.

9. London is always inspiring to me. The Brewery was a stunning location and I loved being the the heart of the city and soaking up the vibe of the capital.

10. Independence. Travelling down and across London, taking part in my first blogging conference, staying alone in the city, meeting and greeting a room full of strangers took me out of my comfort zone, but being surrounded by such inspiration felt GREAT and like the start of something…

A huge THANK YOU to Curvissa for sponsoring me to attend Britmums Live.

The blogging world is fascinating. A blog is a reflection of your personality, a door into your brain. Many bloggers will spend hours on writing, designing and marketing their blog. They work really hard to create interesting, engaging, beautiful content that people like you will want to read. Behind each blog is a determined, passionate, often creative or quirky individual :)

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a handful of fellow mummy bloggers over this past year. The lovely interior blogger Jen – has become my go to for all questions blogging related as have Nottingham based bloggers Penny –, Amanda and Becky I’ve also met the famous mammasaurus, Annie – who we did the race for life with. They are all awesome, inspiring, interesting genuinely lovely, lovely women.

One thing people from outside the blogging world often don’t know is that the blogging world is a huge virtual community. We often read each others blogs, share each others lives and build a real friendship over the internet. This is one area that I haven’t truly developed yet, I’ve been randomly following some of my favourite bloggers, leaving occasional comments when I have something to say but I know to make it as a top blogger you really need to network! The social element of blogging is not only very enjoyable it is absolutely key for growing your blog and feeling part of the community. I’ve been skirting on the outside of it for a while, dipping my toe in now and then. But now it is time my lovely readers for me to dive in!

Aaaand (drum roll please) I’ve been sponsored by Curvissa to attend Britmums live next week!

Britmums Live is the UK’s biggest, two-day social media conference and blogger event, where lifestyle bloggers and social influencers gather to meet and socialise, network with brands, improve their skills, and fire their creativity. BritMums Live has grown out of BritMums, the UK’s largest parent blogger community, made up of nearly 5,000 influential bloggers who create content about lifestyle, crafting, food, health, travel, education, tech, style and more.

I’m not going to lie, I’m excited and nervous, there are more than 500 bloggers attending, it is going to be crazy! But I am trying not to let that overwhelm me. I’m excited to attend the workshops and talks which sound fantastic and of course to meet all the 495 other wonderful mummy bloggers I haven’t met face to face yet!!!

I’ve been keeping track of all the talk surrounding Britmums Live, the where to meet, what not to do, what to wear conversations and I think I’m ready! I happily greeted the postman as he handed over my parcels from Curvissa this morning. A big thank you to them for their sponsorship,  I’m going to be proudly rocking their dresses for the event. I’m keeping my outfits underwraps for now but you will see soon enough, if not at the event then on the blog/facebook/twitter/instagram! Watch this space. This is the first in a series of blog posts taking a sneak peek into my life and my personal taste whether it be fashion, interiors, literature etc. I already feature items that I love in style spot but I think the beauty of a blog is your own personality and taste – the personal touch. So I’m going to try and show you a few of MY own personal favourite things each week!

This week I am loving:

My new top from TKmaxx. I’m embracing the summer vibes (yes, yes… it’s already gone cloudy again :/) and this captures exactly how I’m feeling, bright, sparkly and fun! I really enjoy wearing this top with a pair of simple skinny jeans and my brown leather plaited flip flops (another favourite this week). I just live in flip flops when the sun shines!

My other love this week is this lush nail varnish colour from Boots which I’ve loved for a little while now (since I ‘borrowed’ it from my sister a few months ago) but it is so lovely to wear on a summery day, it is such a pretty colour and looks fab with a bit of a tan :)

And last but by no means least I also have my mobile phone, complete with the worlds funkiest Marc Jacobs earphones! It goes without saying that this is one of my favourite things almost every week so better get it out of the way first haha (in my opinion you just can’t beat android phones). I do struggle without – it keeps me in touch with all my gorgeous family and friends through whatsapp, helps keep my blog running smoothly while I’m on the go and allows me to share all my lovely pics on instagram. Yup darling HTC, I’d be lost without you :)
