Oh yes the rain has well and truly arrived hasn’t it? I’ve spent the whole morning writing and listening to it endlessly bounce off our conservatory roof!

With half term around the corner I know we are going to be out and about treasure hunting for conkers, walnuts, autumn leaves and any other goodies we can find. And any serious Autumn treasure hunter requires outdoorsy equipment including a top quality coat and wellington boots!

In search of a new coat, I’ve headed off to check out the Joules range of girls jackets to see what lovely new designs they have for this AW. I always like Joules clothing both for me and Littlelish. The strong, fun, colourful designs inspired by the countryside always have a good dose of cheeriness and humour thrown in, yup it is a great match for us!

Padded, quilted, tweedy, they have done a great job of combining fun and fashion with practicality. I like to see kids coats with warm linings, hoods and plenty of pockets for keeping treasures nice and safe.

Have an adventurous, outdoorsy, treasuring hunting half term! x

I have long been a fan of the gorgeous clothes made by Wild Things. I first discovered them on Etsy and fell pretty much instantly in love with the fun, cute designs, the creative details and the imagination the clothes inspire. I think in all honesty I regressed to being 4 again and wanted one!! I would have loved one of Kirsty’s creations when I was a little girl but luckily I now have Littlelish to dress up!

Shortlisted for the Junior Design awards in 2013 Wild things have gone from strength to strength and Kirsty has added several new designs, from Koala dresses to Russian doll dresses. Playing dress up has never been so gorgeous! I’ve style spotted some particular favourites below for Halloween that I just adore. My absolute favourite is this gorgeous cat cape, what an easy, versatile Halloween costume this would make and hours of fun imaginative play for years afterwards.

You can WIN one of the beautiful cat capes from Wild Things in time for Halloween. Please note the competition is only running for a short time so make sure you enter straight away! You will need to leave a comment and tell me why you want to win the cape and also like / follow Wild Things on Facebook and Twitter via the Rafflecopter. On your marks, get set, go!

Last weekend I was invited by Lucy Knight, personal stylist at John Lewis Nottingham to preview the new Alice Temperley A/W13 collection ‘Somerset’ along with the lovely Jen from LoveChicLiving, Amanda from The ana mum diary and Penny from The Aresidence.

The range (exclusive to John Lewis) was the fastest selling brand in the store’s history… wow!  I have to say on viewing the collection I could see immediately why, Alice has created stunning stand out pieces for everyday women who want a touch of designer without paying the designer pricetag.

The range was very appealing to me as a woman as it was elegant and feminine, featuring gorgeous soft silk numbers. It also cleverly combined glamourous with a somewhat nostalgic countryside element as seen in the pine cone print below (Alice took her inspiration from her childhood in Somerset).

But this time, alongside the Somerset womenswear, Alice has just launched a range of girlswears for 4 – 12 year olds called ‘Somerset girl’ . The 15 piece collection comprises of blouses, printed skirts, party dresses, arran knit jumpers, winter coats and trousers, all very much infuenced by her popular womanswear range.

Alice Temperley, MBE said, “I am excited to be branching into girlswear. My mother and grandmother always made really beautiful dresses for me whilst I was growing up -pieces that I still treasure today. Clothes hold memories and I hope these will do the same for little girls. The collection consists of easy, playful clothes to have fun in.”

There is definitely a sense of nostalgia around the brand that evokes cherished childhood memories and you can see how these key pieces would become a treasures and fond memories in years to come…

While the range is playful and most definitely created with children in mind, I would say the standout pieces for me are the ocassion wear. Also elegant and grown up but always with the little girl in mind, the dresses are very much in keeping with what you would expect from Alice Temperly with gorgeous beading and lace embellishments. We all had a little try on (even the mummies) and I adored Littlelish in this gorgeous dress. I am seriously contemplating it as her Christmas dress.

I loved that there was a cross over with some of the pieces from Mummy to daughter. I’m not sure I would necessarily match my outfit to my little one but it is nice to have pieces that work together.

For the grown up girls there was a lot of black and actually I don’t wear a huge amount of black. I did however fall in love with these pieces for their cut and exquisite detail. I tried on this stunning blouse (above) which was just so versatile, I need one! I was also adventurous and tried on a gorgeous evening number! I was all dressed up with nowhere to go but felt incredible in it. Who knew floor length pleats could be so flattering?

I’ve chosen my absolute favourite pieces from the range to share with you here, I think you will agree that they are beautiful and very affordable for something a bit special. Check out the full collection online at
