britmumsI’ve been blogging for 5 years now. It’s been a long journey and I’ve had somewhat a love hate relationship with it at times. I’ve had fantastic years when I’ve loved writing and working on creative campaigns with some amazing brands and PR companies and other years like when I lost Lila that I hardly felt like writing at all. It kind of ebbs and flows with the tide of my life…

The blogging world is a fascinating one. These days so many people have set themselves up as bloggers and are making a living from it. One of the best ways to get immersed in the blogging world is to attend blogging events or camps. So with my goal for 2016 being to grow my blog after a quieter couple of years and get my new collaborative blog (Each Peach Pear Plum where I blog with Sarah) off to a flying start, I’ve been to a couple of blogging events, most recently Brit Mums Live thanks to my fabulous sponsor Just us Box.

I’ve been to Brit Mums Live once before, when I first started blogging and coincidentally this year was a special year for Brit Mums as it was also their 5th Birthday!

The event was once again held in the fabulous Brewery in London. This year was slightly different as the event took place on one day rather than spread across two, but other than that the format was very much the same.

We were welcomed into the main room, greeted with lovely breakfast pastries and smoothie shots, and proceeded to take our seats for the welcome and key note speeches.

The first key note speaker was Anne Marie Cockburn, an inspiring lady that moved the room to tears as she talked so proudly and passionately about her beautiful daughter Martha who sadly, at the age of 15, lost her life after taking an Ecstasy tablet.

After the keynotes, bloggers could attend a variety of sessions on interesting subjects such as how to make money from your blog, how to up your game on Instagram and creating fantastic videos. At the heart of Brit Mums there is also The Hub where you can hang out and chat with brands, hearing about their latest campaigns and ideas for working with bloggers. As I had recently attended a blog camp filled with workshops and sessions I decided it would be great to spend the time talking and brainstorming with brands and other bloggers.

I loved hearing about the new Touchnote app which looks awesome and meeting the team from Munchkin as we use lots of their products in our house. I absolutely adored the jewellery from Merci Mamam and got the best goodie bag for Littlelish from the people who publish the Jacqueline Wilson magazines.

Both Sarah and I had a fantastic time and felt full of enthusiasm and motivation when we left which was brilliant. We made lots of contacts for future projects and thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and introducing our new collaboration. With years of blogging under my belt I felt very much like I belonged (even though I still didn’t know 90% of bloggers there!) and loved introducing my coblogger to it all! I also got to see some of my very favourite bloggers who have become friends, like the lovely Penny Alexander from TheAResidence and Parentshaped and Sonia Thorpe from This Mummy Loves.

Blogging is a funny old thing but I do love getting down to London and seeing the blogger community in real life. You realise how diverse bloggers are, each one with their own personality reflected in their blog.

To see how Sarah experienced her very first Brit Mums head over to Each Peach Pear Plum for her account of the day.

Once again a great big thanks to Just us Box who will be launching their new Date Night box in July – we cannot wait!!!
